I’m so thrilled to be sharing my new releases with you! These designs will be available from your LNS (local needlework shop) the end of August/first of September 2022. We are taking pre-orders from shops so call your LNS and preorder now. However, shops who place their order at the Needlework Expo will ship first.
The Needlework Expo is a virtual show held Aug 27, 28, 29. Go here to learn more.
We usually give the shops 4-6 weeks to sell the new designs before we sell them in our Etsy shop but since we’re going to be traveling for retreats in early October, it’ll be late October before we have them in our Etsy shop so please support your favorite LNS or ONS (online needlework shop).
Here is my new release Flosstube video:

Let me know in the comments which one is your favorite
Rachel of Needle and Flax has quickly become one of my favorite linen dyers for cross stitching! I heard about her from my friend Colleen of Stitching with the Sisterlies.
Rachel started a Flosstube channel on YouTube in November 2021. She grew up in California but now lives in Northern Michigan…..I’m a Michigan girl, too, so I was immediately intrigued. After watching her first video, I ordered some of her linen and in December I stitched my first “Faith in Stitches” series on 40 count Pickwick. (shown below)
Faith in Stitches Series #1 – He Will Sustain You is available as a PDF at my Etsy shop here.
Now, 5 months later, I have a nice collection of Rachel’s beautiful fabrics. I love to stitch on 40 count linen so what you are seeing is 40 count linen. When I get an order of her linen, I share it on my Flosstube channel but it’s REALLY hard to show accurate color on a video so I decided to color match her linens to DMC floss. By doing this, it will be easier for you to know what color the linen is which will make kitting your projects easier.
I highly recommend you purchase the DMC color card….the one that has the actual floss wrapped on a card. This is a priceless tool for cross stitchers and is not expensive. Here is a link where you can purchase the DMC floss card.
Read the notes for each photo….I did my best to color match to DMC but WOW….what a chore! It took me hours to do this and even a trip to JoAnns to buy some floss I didn’t have in my stash. Some colors are off….maybe too light or too dark but in the correct color family. Others might be noted a bit differently so make sure to read the notes for each photo.
I hope you find this helpful! Let me know in the comments.
PICKWICK
If 07 and 451 had a baby….. this is another one I struggled to find matching DMC floss colors. At the top of the photo, 07 is a good match, but in other areas of the photo, the purple tones of 451 are seen although in a lighter shade.
BREA
I really stuggled to find the light color for Brea. 739 is too light as you can see but it’s in the right color family.
EASTWICK
If 3861 and 841 had a baby, it would match the darker tones in Eastwick! There’s too much purple in 3861 but it’s a close match.
Petoskey Stone
The Petoskey Stone is a beautiful, natural wonder that is unique to the state of Michigan. Learn more here. Rachel did an amazing job capturing the beautiful colors of the Petoskey Stone.
ALCOTT
DIRTY TEACUP
DOLLEY MADISON
ENDORA
HEMINGWAY
I’m not satisfied with 3864….in the photo is doesn’t look like a match….it’s too pink. I may have to go back and try this one again. It all depends on the lighting in the studio. I even photographed with a black background and again with a white background….each one looked so different but I picked the closest photo to a match 😳
STEINBECK
THORNFIELD
The next 3 photos are showing how lighting can effect the colors of fabric and floss.
WALNUT GROVE
Need I say more……
This is not all of the linens Rachel offers. There are 9 more. I tend to stitch on or have my models stitchers stitch on neutrals or earthtones. I rarely design with colored fabrics.
I will add to this post when I receive new colors or when Rachel comes out with new colors.
I love when an artist put so much symbolism and hidden meaning into their works of art. Ukrainian Catholic artist Ivanka Demchuk’s icon of the Annunciation has depth and symbolism explained in this video from Good Catholic, a division of The Catholic Company.
Yarn Tree/Needlework Retailer who host the Nashville Needlework Market did something new this year. They shot a 360 degree photo of every room at the market! It’s so great to be able to see every room….even us exhibitors didn’t have time to visit EVERY room so it was a treat for me to see.
Yarn Tree/Needlework Retailer has given permission to share ENJOY!
It’s been a long time comin’. I’m finding it difficult to keep up with vlogging and blogging right now due to many deadlines with work, preparing for the Silver Needle retreat and visiting with Mom and Jerry.
Mom and Jerry arrived the day we arrived in Tennessee for Gabby and JTs wedding. It was sad to be away when they arrived but it worked out good because they took care of the dogs while we were away.
They’ve been here about a month now and we’ve had so much fun. I’m absorbing as much time with them as possible while they’re here this summer.
The best and most thorough way to see what I’ve been up to is to subscribe to BOTH of my YouTube channels. Flosstube is more of a sit-down visit where I share what I’ve been up to on a weekly basis and Creatube is more of a bi-weekly vlog where I share day-to-day happenings in my life and studio. Flosstube can be found here. Creatube can be found here.
WIPS – ART
The angel is our last lesson in session 5 of CW LIVE. We will finish her this Tuesday. Session 6 starts August 3rd. To learn about CW Live, go here.
Below is what I was working on for Whatcha Paintin Wednesday. WPW is a live paint-and-chat on my Facebook and YouTube Wednesdays at 1pm eastern time.
I’ve taken a break from it to work on my bear calendar.
WIPS – NEEDLEWORK
Still pluggin away at my cross stitch project. This design will be one of nine designs in a patriotic book to be released in March at the Nashville Needlework Market.
FINISHES – ART
I painted an abstract landscape “Desolate” for our downstairs bathroom. I used Dixie Bell iron pantina for the rust effect.
In CW Live we created photo collages!! What fun!! The first one is our grandson and below that is one of our granddaughter.
#helpsomeone was the next painting lesson in session 5 of CW Live. The crackle turned out amazing on this one! The students also did a fantastic job on their paintings. So proud of them!
I’ve been painting a bear calendar in watercolor since 1999. I need 3 paintings done for the 2023 calendar by this week! Here is the first one I painted. This is the June image “Three Bluebirds”.
Here is the 2nd painting for the calendar, “Bring Me Apples” – November 2023.
HAUL – (stuff I purchased)
This is just a smidge of what I’ve bought………
My first teeny tiny sewing machine….I’ve acquired 2 more since this photo……
For our deck…
I’ve also gotten in a ton of Classic Colorworks and Weeks Dye Works floss, Blackberry Primitives wool and linen swatches, books and more! Watch my YouTube videos to see everything.
PUNCHNEEDLE & PRIMITIVE STITCHER MAGAZINE
Below is my contribution to the summer 2021 issue of PNPSM, “Patriotic Ewe” punchneedle.
That’s it for now! Wishing you a great July! My next post will be after the Silver Needle Retreat. I will share as much as possible…this is my first time as a guest designer at a retreat. Wish me luck!
Riley Blake Designs presents For the Love of Nature
I’m so excited to be sharing my first fabric line with Riley Blake Designs. For the Love of Nature will be in quilt shops this fall and shops are pre-ordering now.
After a 10 year hiatus, I’m back designing quilting fabric and it feels so good!
Inspiration for the line is exactly what the title reads…..
Living on 5 acres in Michigan surrounded by farm fields, ponds, creeks, wooded areas, a park and a river means we see a lot of wildlife. Our pond is directly outside my studio door and we’ve seen deer, fox, coyotes, racoon (at one time two baby racoons got into my studio!), quirrel, bunnies, wild turkey, Canandian geese, blue heron, green heron and all types of ducks. I feel blessed living among all the beauty.
In 2019 I designed a cross stitch sampler “For the Love of Nature”. The elements from the sampler where the inspiration for the fabric line as well. Just this month I released the cross stitch chart pictured below.
You can buy the kit which will include the pattern and fabric for the quilt top and binding. The kit comes in the box shown in the above photo.
Below are photos of the first strike offs. The color is pretty good for the first run!
The next three photos seem very light to me but remember these are the first strike-offs. The color will be corrected but I wanted to go ahead and show you the prints.
A HUGE thank you to Cindy and the Riley Blake team for working on this line with me and for trusting in me and my designs enough to partner with me. I’m truly grateful.
If you like what you see, contact your local quilt shop and make sure they’ve pre-ordered this line. It will be in quilt shops this fall!
So sorry I’ve been slacking in updating each week after my Flosstube video. It’s just a lot of extra work so I think I’m going to update every 3-4 weeks. That may be more do-able. (fingers and eyes crossed!)
Below is the latest Flosstube video:
Go HERE to watch the Flosstube videos from the past four weeks if you’d like a more thorough update.
WIPS (works in progress)
Needlework
Due to working on my Halloween Whimsy fabric line for Riley Blake Designs, I have’t had much time for stitching or punching 😞 The punching I did do was for my May pattern release.
Art
I started a new painting for Whatcha Paintin’ Wednesday. Another Mary and Jesus painting; a
3 foot round. I love how it’s progressing. I started with texturing the board with acrylic paint and a layering block.
Join me for WPW every Wednesday at 1pm eastern on Facebook or YouTube.

Whatcha Paintin Wednesday
I finished “Perfect Love”. I really enjoyed painting it during WPW. Join Kristin of Shabby Perceptions and me as we paint together and chat.
I decoupaged the leaflets handed out each week at mass to my substrate and painting over top then sanded to reveal the “hidden” words. There are also a couple of pictures of Mary hidden behind the paint (shown below).
Faith Journaling
I’m starting to paint in my journal once a week. I’m choosing topics reflecting my faith. First up is “Rest Well Loretta”.
I also recorded myself painting “Prayer”.
As you can see it’s been busy at the studio! We are also having a May pattern release…..2 punchneedle and 4 cross stitch. I’ll share that here as well so check back!
We survived the weekend with our grandkiddos! Unfortunately Kevin was ill and didn’t get to play (or help) much with the grandkids 😞
OVERSEAS SHOPS
I get many messages from people on Etsy wanting my cross stitch charts but the shipping is so expensive so I created a PDF with links to all of our overseas shops. Click here to see the list.
PATREON
I will be charting three new cross stitch designs this coming week for Patreon. They’ll be houses, flowers, birds and quilts in red, white and blue. If you haven’t joined yet, do so before I delete the March designs! You can learn about Patreon here.

Needlework
Again no needlework progress this week. The Halloween fabric line is shaping up nicely though and plan to have it done before Easter. I’m anxious to start a new punchneedle design!

“For the Love of Nature” Fabric Line
As stated in my video, I was teaching my CW Live painting class and someone congratulated me on my Riley Blake Designs fabric line. I was like “where did you see it?” She said it was on RDB website. So all my students that were with me live went to the site and I knew this because they all were commenting on how they loved the line. So I too went to the website and was delighted to see it! Here is a link so you can check it out as well. Contact your LQS (local quilt shop) to make sure they’ve preordered the line

“Retiring” Patterns
Due to storage issues, we plan to retire a lot of cross stitch and punchneedle patterns in April. I will create a list and share it so if you want a physical pattern or hard copy, you can make sure to get it.
After we retire these patterns they will be made into PDF only patterns and only available in my Etsy shop. This way the patterns will still be available but we won’t have to store inventory for the physical patterns. We have to make room for new!
CW LIVE Session 5 to start soon!

FINISHES
If you don’t have a subscription to Punchneedle and Primitive Stitchers Magazine, you need to do so today! It’s the best magazine for cross stitch and punchneedle.
I’ve been so fortunate to have one of my designs in every issue since the magazine started. Here’s my contribution to the Spring 2021 magazine and my finishing video.
HAUL
I’m not posting photos but I do show them in the video….
Expo has consumed Kevin and I for the past few weeks! The prep work, the expo weekend and the shipping afterwards …..not to mention rebuilding stock because we underestimated how well the show would go. We sold way more than we anticipated so thank you to all of you who pre-ordered from your LNS.
Below are some photos of the booth and my view from the booth. Watch the below video for more behind the scenes of Needlework Expo.
Here’s Flosstube 110
WIPS
Needlework
Honestly….I don’t have photos this week of my punchneedle and cross stitch WIPS but they are shown in the video above.
Art
I’m very close to being done with Brigid…..
I mentioned in my video how I worked a few hours on my Whatcha Paintin Wednesday painting on my own without going live….I just needed time to really focus on her face and decide how I wanted the rest of the painting to look. Here is a short time lapse video showing how I got from the before to the after.
Here’s our Whatcha Paintin Wednesday video:
FINISHES
In CW Live we painted #patrioticchicks
To learn more about CW Live go here. The next session starts April 6.
HAUL
Another great week! Below are photos of my art journaling haul. Starting in April I’m going to art journal every Monday. I will recording my process on my YouTube art channel: www.youtube.com/c/teresakogut
All products shown below (except for the Valdani Floss) can be purchased at my Amazon shop here.
Valdani Pearl Cotton. This is great for punchneedle because it’s already in three strands and is in a continuous ball of 73 yards. These Valdani balls equal .08/yard for three strands. But to do this comparison we need to double that because it’s 3 strands vs 6 strands which makes Valdani .16/yard. Most other over-dyed floss companies (Weeks Dye Works, Classic Colorworks and Gentle Arts) are 6 strands of floss and cost around .48-.50/yard. DMC is .07/yard. So for punchneedle Valdani makes sense. They offer a large range of overdyed floss in gorgeous colors.
I can’t wait to start journaling in this book!
I also got these awesome storage boxes for all my journaling supplies (I need to get a few more). I used the lable maker shown below to label the boxes.
FLOSSTUBE 111
We started shipping orders from Expo Monday March 8th and hoped to get them all out by the end of the week….which might have been possible if we had enough inventory. We had to continuously print, cut, and stuff patterns all week. It looks like it will flow into next week, too.

Thank you ladies for sharing your finishes! If you want your Teresa Kogut design finish featured on my Flosstube, please email me at teresakogut3@gmail.com
Art
This was a project for CW Live and I just needed to paint the verse on it…well, I used a waterproof pen thinking it was permanent but when I rubbed the raw umber wash over top to antique the painting much of the words rubbed off! It was a happy accident because it looks more aged this way
Oh…and then someone informed me that I have the wrong verse….it’s suppose to be Matthew 5:7 so I need to remove the “1”. lol!
No haul this week….takin a break after the past two weeks! lol!
Welcome! The vision for my blog is to share my life & creativity, give a more in depth look into my YouTube videos, show my creative process, announce new products & patterns and hopefully inspire you to live a creative life.
