Tracing Your Punchneedle Image to Weavers Cloth

Tracing Your Punchneedle Image to Weavers Cloth

Thank you for purchasing one of my punchneedle patterns. I appreciate your support.

I find the easiest way to transfer the image to weaver’s cloth is to simply tape the pattern drawing to the underside of your weaver’s cloth and either hold up to a window or use a light box to backlight the image so you can see to trace it using a fine tip permanent marker or ball point pen.

The below video is actually for embroidery but some of the same techniques apply. Since my patterns aren’t iron-ons, the first part of this video doesn’t apply but the other two techniques will work.

NOTE: the words are suppose to be backwards because you punch from the backside of the cloth. When you flip it over, the words will be correct.

Again thank you for your patience as I record, edit and upload my video. The goal is March 11th, 2015.

Hi Teresa, I have a question. When transferring a pattern for punch needle, does it have to be on the straight of the grain? I have done many punch patterns and never thought about this but had a friend ask, so now I’m wondering. If so, I’ve had no problem thus far.
Thanks so much. BTW, love all your patterns!

Hi Judy,
No, not for punchneedle. That’s definitely a rug hooking thing. Thanks for asking!
Blessings, Teresa
