Fun times…..

May 21, 2010

This morning Holy Rosary Catholic School had their annual walk-a-thon. Kevin, my parents and I joined Ryan, friends, schoolmates and teachers on this nice lil’ stroll through the county park. After about 1.5 miles they get a break for some cookies and punch then walk back to the buses where they head back to school for a day of outside fun and games. It sprinkled on us a bit but the afternoon turned out warm, sunny and breezy……..a perfect day!

Thank you Kim, Tracy, Lisa and Kevin for serving cookies, punch and water to everyone! You’re the best πŸ™‚

Mom, Kevin, Daniel, Dad and Ryan walking back to the buses…..still sprinkling a little…….

I absolutely love this picture! It looks like a shot from a movie, doesn’t it? The umbrellas really make this photo.

Daniel, Adam, Joshua and Ryan after the walk and waiting for the bus to return. I look forward to this day every year.

May Give-away

May 20, 2010

It’s time for a give-away! This month I chose a darling "Got Wool" felt purse. It is a brown felt purse with a cute little punchneedle embroidery sheep attached to the front and a zipper closure. It is rather small for everyday use but a great size for an afternoon of antiquing! Also great for display with an old teddy bear or just hanging from a peg. All you have to do is make a comment below to enter the drawing. It is completely free….I pay the shipping. (US only please) Hurry, the drawing ends May 31. The winner will be announced June 1. Good luck!

An Old Friend

May 19, 2010

"Liberty Bear"

"Liberty Bear" (detail)

Original acrylic painted on antique cutting board
16.25" x 25.25"

$220

(includes shipping – United States only please)

I love this painting of an old antique teddy bear showing his patriotism by holding an American flag. The wood grain and markings on this antique cutting board really enhanced the worn look of this painting. It is painted with acrylics, sanded, stained and coated with varnish. There is a wire on the back for easy hanging. This would look great in any room of the house! (the ©teresa kogut is a watermark on the photo only, it is not on the original painting) If you prefer to pay by check, please contact me for my mailing address.

Camp Fun

May 18, 2010

When I was growing up, my brother and I played with the neighbor kids in the trees and fields behind my parent’s house. We would spend hours and hours playing cowboys and indians, cops and robbers…..we would build forts and tree houses……only coming home to eat or use the bathroom……..I was a major tom-boy!
My parents still live in the same house where we grew up and now the fields have "grown up" too. There are many more trees, the apple trees we use to climb are gone and there are grape vines growing among the trees creating a sort of canopy. Now we have the pleasure of watching our kids play and build in the same fashion we did. I hope you enjoy these photos of Ryan and his cousin Chris in their "camp" that they built along with Kyle and Tayler.

WIP….still

May 17, 2010

I am still working on this acrylic painting. I only had a few hours Saturday to work on it because we had a wedding that afternoon. I made a lot of progress…..but still a ways to go. I find myself changing my mind on color and have re-painted the entire background. The journey through a painting is the best part so I am savoring the time I am spending to make this piece something I am really proud of.

"Life in your Years"
copyright Teresa Kogut

This is a work in progress…..hoping to work on it again this Saturday and get it done. It is another acrylic folk art painting with an Abraham Lincoln quote. Whether I get it finished this weekend or not I will post another picture of it early next week.

I am working during the week toward meeting deadlines for my licensees. I am designing products for a trade company and then onto Halloween and Christmas fabric lines for Marcus Fabrics. Also painting several Christmas images over the next month or so for gift bags and cards.

Congratulations Dan!

Deacon Dan Kogut & Bishop Boyea
Our nephew was ordained as a Deacon this past Saturday at St Roberts in Flushing, Michigan. One more year of studying and he will be ordained as a priest. The music & choir was amazing…….it sounded as if Jesus himself was going to walk down the aisle. It was joyful, triumphant and majestic. The entire mass was moving. Seeing Dan and two other young men dedicating their lives to the church in order to serve the people and do God’s will is awe inspiring. Congratulations Dan! We (and so many others) are proud of you!

And, of course, Happy Mother’s Day to you, Mom!

My beautiful Mother and me had fun getting our pictures taken on Mother’s Day. We enjoyed the day together surrounded by family, fun and food. (the weather could have been warmer but at least the sun was shining!)

Hope all of you hard-working Mom’s out there had a wonderful Mother’s Day with your children, too.

Well, here goes nothin’! I have been "blogging" on my website for over a year now but there are certain things I cannot do using that format (such as adding videos) so I thought I would give this a try. I will still offer products for sale through my website (I will announce & link to my website when I have new products for sale) but I want this blog to be more intimate……so welcome. Please be patient while I figure out just how to work this format.
